Bangalore: Over 1000 children of Bangalore will join the “Agrasen 1098 Run” on 21st Sept 2014 at Cubbon Park. The objective of the run being to highlight the abuse of Children , and to assure them that helpline no 1098 and Makkala sahayavani are working to provide them relief from any kind of harassment that they may be facing. School students of 10th , 9th and 8th standards will be invited to run in the 3.8 kilometer run in Cubbon Park .
The run will start from BSNL gate ( next to Press Club) at 7 am on 21st Sept 2014. The event is being organized by the Agarwal Samaj Karnataka , a body of the Agarwal community in Bangalore as a part of its initiatives to highlight the Child Helpline and the benefits students can take from it. “ We have named the run , Agrasen1098run so that children and others can remember the number easily. We hope that the school managements will take a lot interest and depute students to participate . We have also made it attractive with Big Prizes for the winners in the different categories.” Says Sanjay Garg , Secretary Agrawal Samaj.
Several corporate houses are also coming forward to support the run in the wake of recent incidents in Bangalore which have put a fear psychosis in children’s mind. “The recent events have shown that children need to be protected as there is lurking fear at every corner. Empowered with the knowledge that there is help available and that they can get it on phone by calling 1098 will help children feel safer” says Vijay Salarpuria , Chairman Salarpuria Sattva main sponsor of the Agrasen1098 Run.
A team of volunteers are giving finishing touches to the event in association with Classic Road Runners Athletic Club , the technical partners of the Run. A special website www.agrasen1098run.com has been created to help online registrations. Registration forms have also been dispatched to over 200 Bangalore schools .
